Foetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) are one of the growing class of lifestyle caused disorders. FASDs are a group of conditions that can occur in a person whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. People with FAS have central nervous system (CNS) problems, minor facial feature abnormalities, and growth problems. People with FAS can have problems with learning, memory, attention span, communication, vision, or hearing. They might have a mix of these problems. People with FAS often have a hard time in school and trouble getting along with others.
The poster shown is an example of a poster from an educational program that targets FASD.

The impact of FASD on a person is lifelong and targeted prevention is required for groups at risk. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of the risks of drinking during pregnancy by sharing the following key messages: 1. Alcohol should be avoided during pregnancy (and whilst planning) 2. All members of the community are responsible in reducing the risk, including the partner, family, friends and health care professionals ( 3. The campaign is targeting people that are pregnant (or trying to conceive) to understand the life long impacts of alcohol consumption and thus help to reduce the incidence of FASD by adapting healthy lifestyle. Health care professionals also use such programmes to educate the expectant mothers on the adverse physical and cognitive stress created on their children due to FASD. The aim of above programme is to increase the quality of life.
